Aerobic Septic System Sprinkler Heads

Overview

Not every home has the luxury of municipal sewer access. Such homes must find a ware to deal with their wastewater themselves. Septic Systems are a common way to dispose of wastewater, but where does the treated water go after it has been treated?

Depending on the soil, some systems might use a drip system or sprinklers to eject the treated water. Sprinkler systems cause the greatest chance for humans to come into contact with the treated wastewater. That is why that method to disperse wastewater requires the water to be treated thoroughly.

There are regulatory agencies, such as the TCEQ, that require particular sprinkler heads be used for septic systems. For example, the TCEQ requires irrigation systems that use reclaimed water to be made using purple components. That color indicated that the irrigation system in question is not potable water. Thus, the pipe used for septic sprinkler systems and sprinkler heads are purple in Texas.

The two most common types of sprinkler heads are 4 and 6 inches.

A 4 inch sprinkler head will be used to spray 20-30 feet.

6 inch head will is used for distances greater than 30 ft.

Check out all the different sprinkler heads listed below, and you will be sure to find the one that’s right for your wastewater treatment needs.
