Sta-Rite has been moving and improving water since 1934. William C Heath was the president of the A.O Smith Corporation at the time. He founded Sta-Rite over 75 years ago with an initial commitment to quality products. His ideology was products "built right to stay right", eventually leading to the name of his company; Sta-Rite. Sta-Rite had early success with jet pumps and centrifugal pumps. Jet pumps provide water to small household sprinkler systems. They circulate water in loop systems and are available in several horsepower options for different pumping performance rates. Centrifugal pumps are large pumps that often pump water, sewage, petroleum, or petrochemicals. After the early years of success with these two pumps, Sta-Rite moved into producing 4" submersible pumps and motors. These pumps come in 2 wire or 3 wire options. A 2 wire 4" submersible pump has all of the controls located on the motor. The 3rd wire adds a control box for the pump, so if anything goes wrong you can just repair something in the control box instead of pulling the submersible pump out of the well. Sta-Rite has a few important dates in its history besides its foundation in 1934. In 1956 Sta-Rite manufactured its first 4", 6", and 8" submersible pumps. 14 years later in 1970, Sta-Rite branched out in Dairy, Fluid Power, and Communications products. In 1991, though, this was undone so that Sta-Rite could focus on its core strength: Water. In 2004 Pentair acquired Sta-Rite to form a global water technology business, serving multiple industries worldwide. This partnership continues today so that both companies can focus their technologies on solving the world's growing need for clean and accessible water. Sta-Rite's specialization in well-made pumps, tanks, motors, and controls allows them to sell a wide range of products in over 100 countries across the globe.
